A new Web site,
mjob.com, is looking to bring the idea of mobile recruiting to the forefront.
The site, a boutique marketing agency focused on mobile recruiting, provides services to help employers and job sites get the most from their recruiting and marketing efforts using mobile. mJob offers: mobile site creation, SMS text messaging campaigns, mobile search engine optimization, bluecasting or bluetooth marketing and analytics, among other things.
There are currently more than 4 billion handsets in the world, and the GSMA estimates that the mobile Web will reach 6 billion consumers during the next four years. The popularity of smartphones, such as the
iPhone, has driven more phones into more people's hands, including
job seekers. On the flip side, mobile Web allows employers to connect with candidates quickly and efficiently.
"By creating and optimizing a Web site for viewing on a mobile device, potential candidates have access to an employers job listings anytime, anywhere," mJob Founder Joel Cheesman said in a press release. "Behaviorally, people
search for jobs during work hours on company computers, but a growing number of employers are blocking such sites. Mobile lets candidates search without fear of the boss watching.
"Mobile will have a growing impact on the choices marketers and employers make to promote opportunities and brands," Cheesman continues. "For most organizations, mobile is a topic that has yet to come up in conversations. But it's just a matter of time before the industry hits critical mass."
